Human Subjects Research Education Policy

Researchers at 51福利社 are required to complete Human Subjects Research training prior to the conduct of any research involving human subjects. This includes activities such as working directly with human research participants or interacting with identifiable data or biological specimens for research purposes. If you have completed a training program at a different institution, this may meet the requirements of this policy at 51福利社. There is currently no requirement to refresh your CITI certification once completed.

How do I complete CITI Training? 

51福利社 subscribes to the Collaborative IRB Training Initiative Program (CITI) for training researchers. To complete CITI Training:

• Register at by clicking "Register" and completing the registration process.
• Select the course or courses you are required to complete. (Select "Not at this time" for all non-required courses. See below for more detailed information on course requirements.)
• Complete your selected course at your own pace.
• Upload your completion certificate to the Cayuse IRB Registration Form.
• The IRB Office will maintain a copy of your certificate, which also remain available in your CITI account. 

What CITI Training should I complete?

There are a number of courses and tracks available in CITI. After you first register for CITI, you will encounter this page. Researchers are only required to complete one of the selections under "Human Subjects Research." Select:

• Biomedical Research Investigators if you will be conducting research involving biomedical interventions (such as randomizing participants to exercise, performance, or nutritional interventions) or biospecimen collection.
• Social & Behavioral Research Investigators if you will be conducting research involving surveys, focus groups, or research in the K-12 or Higher Education environment.
• Public Health Research if you will be conducting research involving traditional Public Health data, interventions, and models. (Note: your instructor may also require the "Social & Behavioral" track.)
• Humanities Responsible Conduct of Research if you will be conducting research and scholarship activities in humanities fields.
