Purpose

51¸£ÀûÉç supports the use of external speakers and events planned by University-recognized student organizations as long as they are approved in advance.

Scope

This policy applies students, staff, and faculty.

Policy

In the spirit of consistency with 51¸£ÀûÉç’s mission and values, the University reserves the right to review and approve any Lindenwood-sponsored or affiliated event featuring any outside speaker. This applies to events organized by faculty, staff, and recognized student organizations that are held on campus or at an outside location. Speakers who are active political figures or candidates will be handled through the University Political Nonpartisanship Policy.

Student organizations or employees who invite external speakers to campus must adhere to University policies and refrain from engaging in harassing or hate speech. Student organizations or employees interested in bringing a speaker to campus must complete the Speaker Request Form located on the Mane Connection. The form does not apply to speakers invited to a classroom or academic topic. The form should be submitted a minimum of 4 weeks in advance. Student requests will be reviewed by the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and employee requests by the Provost.
