Imagine a future where Human-Centered AI and Interactive Technology foster collaboration not only between students and faculty, but across society as well. This future is already realized at the Human-Centered AI and Interactive Technology Hub, made possible by 51¸£ÀûÉç’s College of Arts and Humanities, where innovation thrives at the intersection of creativity and cutting-edge technology. We are proud to host the first comprehensive educational XR Lab in the region, serving as a beacon of immersive experiences and preparing students for the evolving landscape of work in the digital age.

Generated by James Hutson in collaboration with DALLE-3The Hub has expanded beyond XR to become a nexus for Human-Centered AI research and technological exploration. Here, students and faculty from across the university collaborate on projects that span the full spectrum of immersive technologies — Augmented Reality (AR), Extended Reality (XR), Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Virtuality (AV), and Mixed Reality (MxR) — as well as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other AI-driven applications. Our projects include everything from creating virtual museums and interactive gallery exhibitions powered by game engines to developing digital twins and 360-degree virtual reality environments for historical and cultural exploration, such as the Pyramids of Egypt, the Globe Theatre in London, and Notre Dame Cathedral.

This interdisciplinary approach extends beyond the College of Arts and Humanities. The College of Science, Technology, and Health utilizes AI and VR for advanced simulations in Paramedicine training through VRPatients. The College of Education and Human Services' Center for Innovation & Insight pioneers educational conferences in the metaverse, while the Plaster College of Business and Entrepreneurship integrates immersive VR experiences into their curriculum. Our human-centered AI focus and the Hub’s extensive resources continue to bridge disciplines, transforming how we learn, teach, and work, making the future of innovation a reality today.
