The College of Arts and Humanities focuses on YOU as a human being, and the Department of English, Language, and Interdisciplinary Studies will provide you the tools to build meaningful relationships and tell your own story to your colleagues, students, readers, or clients.

In all of our programs, you will learn to communicate effectively: argue your points, defend your position, express your views with sensitivity, and empathize with others, even in their own language! Why not? In the Department of English, Language, and Interdisciplinary Studies, you will develop the skills of effective communication.

We offer 2 majors: English and Interdisciplinary Studies, and 6 minors (including minors in Spanish and Gender Studies), and 2 certificates that will enhance any other degree you’re pursuing on campus.

• The English (BA) program enables you to study what you love and get the skills you need.
• The Interdisciplinary Studies (BA) program offers you a flexible experience, in which you can personalize your journey from three disciplines from across the College of Arts and Humanities and 51¸£ÀûÉç as a whole.
• The provides a variety of marketable skills, such as writing, public speaking, critical thinking, conflict resolution, and diversity training.
• The Spanish Minor offers you the ability to gain cultural competencies that you can apply to experiences domestically and abroad.
