51¸£ÀûÉç celebrated the grand opening of the Math Success Center on Wednesday, August 30, to kick off the 2023-24 academic year.
The Math Success Center is a one-stop shop for Lindenwood students seeking to better their quantitative skills.
Lindenwood students also are welcome to visit the Math Success Center for drop-in tutoring sessions or to work on assignments whenever they need to. Tutoring is available for statistics, algebra, calculus, and more. So far, the Math Success Center has hosted nearly 600 tutoring sessions this fall, including course-specific tutoring sessions.
Located in the Library and Academic Resources Center (Room 121), this space offers a welcoming, cozy environment, complete with tea, hot chocolate, and Snack ‘n’ Study sessions during finals week for students enrolled in eight- and 16-week courses.
“The (Math Success) Center Director, Mary Silverglate, and our tutors bring their love of math to the center every day and share that with our students,” Department Head of Mathematics, Computer Science, and IT Dr. Erin Martin said. “Tutors are able to work with students one-on-one or in small groups in a stress-free environment to meet their individual needs. I am absolutely thrilled that we are able to offer this support to our Lindenwood Lions!”
By working alongside math tutors, students develop a deeper understanding of mathematics and refine their problem-solving skills – a testament to one of Lindenwood’s values of putting students first. Students then will be able to transfer those skills to their desired profession.
The Math Success Center is open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Fridays, and 2-5 p.m. Sundays, excluding holidays, this fall. Spring 2024 hours will be available in January.
